Inquiry

The Danish design and architecture magazine RUM brings a lengthy interview with Klara Lilja on the occasion of the new collaboration with iconic Danish ceramic brand Royal Copenhagen. Under the title As Above, So Below, 25 unique art platters have been created, uniting Klara Lillja’s wondrous world of flora, fauna and lush organic shapes with Royal Copenhagen’s legacy of craftsmanship. The Interview offers a unique insight into the creative process behind the collaboration. A collaboration, that is truly a wish come true for Lilja:

"For me, the dream of Royal Copenhagen began while I was still attending the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. So probably eight years ago. At that pont, I was already incredibly interested in glazes, and it became almost like an obsession. One day in the workshop, my ceramics professor, Karen Harsbo said: 'One day Royal Copenhagen will reach out to you.' And I was like 'Yeah, right'. Even if it were to happen, I'm thinking, it'll be when I'm 50. But I'm 35 and it has happened" - Klara Lilja to RUM
