Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
There is a field. I'll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
The world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
Doesn't make any sense.

- Jelaluddin Rumi (1207-1273)

Bursts of vivid colours offer fragmented glimpses of the beyond. Mirrored memories and cosmic sensations, out of reach from verbal and written language, are expressed with paint on canvas. The compositions trace long-limbed movements, rhythm, energy, push and pull, purpose and mistakes. Beautiful mistakes. Intuitive decisions. Figurative elements appear, dissolve, transition and reappear. Dense layers of paint are juxtaposed with open spaces. Large gestural brushstrokes sing with fast-paced lines. Fuelled by a long lineage of painting Roudman’s works appear urgent and empowered. Like metaphysical love letters.
