Marcus Leslie Singleton opens solo exhibition at Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati

Leslie Singleton's upcoming exhibition New Steps includes videos, drawings and deeply intimate paintings of Singleton’s experiences in Côte d'Ivoire displayed alongside works depicting his family and friends.

In early 2024, Singleton attended an artist residency at La Fourchette de Rōze, a boutique hotel in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. As a Black American, his first trip to West Africa was a transformational experience.

Singleton portrays nuanced images of everyday life in two distinct cultures – what the artist describes as the next steps following a period of observation and self-discovery.

New Steps opens at Contemporary Arts Center Friday June 20. 7 - 10 PM
