Back in March 2024, simultaneously with the opening of the new V1 Gallery, we opened the doors to V1 SALON. With a location that we knew so well and cared so much to keep, the vision was to create a space that was different, dynamic and ever-changing. Looking at art through the quirky eyes of V1 SALON should be curious and inspiring.
Fortune Teller gathers 58 artists; some of the artists who have already exhibited in V1 Gallery, Eighteen and V1 SALON, artists who we have worked with in the past, those who are currently represented by us, and a selection of artists new to the gallery. In that sense, the exhibition represents the past, present and future of this space.
While the trajectory of our modern world is unsure, we find motivation in the belief and hope that art always will have a pivotal place in society. We’ve asked the participating artists to play fortune tellers and create a vision of the future whether it entails dystopian sentiments, anxieties, dreams or aspirations. In this exhibition, you will find a wide variety of media with a point of departure in the A4 format (297x 210 mm / 11.7 inches x 8.3 inches). Considering that points of departure are the best way to get lost, you will naturally find lots of works which do not exactly fit this bill. Fortune Teller gather many different voices and expressions that come together as an eclectic and energic chorus.
This exhibition is a manifestation of gratitude towards the artists, the art and those who experience it – all vital in creating and growing V1 SALON. Past, present and future.
