Q&A with James Ulmer
Q: Tell us something about the thoughts and inspiration behind this exhibition:
A: I was looking to translate my ideas through a simple pictorial language. My inspiration comes from colour and a connection between humans and nature.
Q: What characterises your work process?
A: I come up with an idea make a drawing then start working out the colour ideas. I think about bigger shapes and the narrative element often comes later.
Q: Where do you particularly draw inspiration from?
A: From nature and from life. For this body of work, it was all out of my head no references. For other works it might be something I see on the street or printed material that sparks an idea.
