Bio

Peter Funch, born in 1974 in Denmark, is a photographer whose work exists in a space where time feels suspended. Currently based in Paris, he has also lived and worked in New York for thirteen years, developing a practice that intertwines social commentary, cinematic storytelling, and a keen observational eye. Graduating as a photojournalist from the Danish School of Journalism in 1999, Funch has consistently explored the interplay between human behaviour, narrative, and temporality.

His projects often inhabit multiple registers simultaneously, from social sculpture and portraiture to time-based art, producing images that feel at once contemporary and timeless. Through both still and motion work, he constructs perceptive visual stories that reflect on humanity, existence, and the Anthropocene, all while maintaining a distinctive Nordic calm and dry humour. Exhibiting internationally and working across books, editorial, and advertising, Funch combines technical precision with poetic resonance, inviting viewers into worlds that are quietly profound, meticulously observed, and endlessly engaging.
