Even though Burgaard's works draw on a pink 'girl's room  aesthetic' ala Polly Pocket or My Little Pony, she is strongly concerned with what associations and feelings - feelings more than thoughts - she can evoke through her works. As she says:"I want to create a feeling of something light and safe - which you can then set against something unsafe, climate change and the biodiversity crisis, for example. And then I really like working with pastel colors and these completely glossy plastic surfaces, which almost look like they are machine-produced, but they are still handmade" - Sofie Burgaard in conversation with Ole Bak Jakobsen for Kunsten.nu
