Multidisciplinary artist Cali Thornhill DeWitt’s work CROSS HAIRS (2019) is on view in the extensive exhibition ‘Figures of speech’ opening at High Museum of Art, Atlanta Nov 12.
As an unprecedented survey of the work by Virgil Abloh, the modern, genre-bending artist and designer who became creative director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear in 2018, the exhibition presents prototypes alongside finished artworks, product designs, and fashion to reveal his myriad inspirations – from centuries-old paintings to commonplace construction signs. Throughout the show is an emphasis on dialogue, through the inventive use of language and quotation marks, turning design objects and people wearing cloth into “figures of speech.”
For the show, DeWitt made a special Figures of speech collection of tees/hoodies/sweatpants, available exclusively at the museum.
