Salad Days
A solo exhibition by Fryd Frydendahl
Fryd Frydendahl collaborates with life. She works closely with her immediate surroundings and uses them in her work. In the exhibited works she is portraying youth. The portraits are not intended as an anthropological project, which aims to uncover youth, but are about concepts that surround that specific moment in life.
In her own words the works are about:
"Salad Days is an aesthetic idiom. Portraits that shows fractions of a time filled with inexperience, enthusiasm, innocence and indiscretions, staring back.”
“Each sitter could be a famous rock star or a family member.”
“Salad Days is an attempt at showcasing a chunk of time that is destined to be awkward, with vulnerability and dignity.”
Fryd Frydendahl (born 1984) lives and works in Denmark and New York. She graduated from Fatamorgana, The Danish School of Art and Photography, Denmark and The International Center of Photography, New York. She recently exhibited at 2014 Frames, Projecting International Photography, Glasgow, Scotland. She has published several books with her photo projects such as Winter, The Summer of Yes and Family Album. Salad Days is Fryd Frydendahl’s first Danish solo exhibition in the Depot.
